We are finally taking a long overdue holiday this week. We should have been going on a cruise around the fjords of Norway, but unfortunately our booking agency went bust and the trip was cancelled.
Instead of pining for the fjords like a Norwegian Blue, we are having a week enjoying what the City of York can offer us, we we stay at a Premier Inn.
Things here are understandably different from normal; there’s no daily maid service for one thing. They can’t come in and out of the room while we are occupying it. No lovely fresh towels, and nobody to make the bed for us when we come back.
We don’t mind. We really appreciate what they’ve put in place to stay open and provide us with the little holiday we desperately need.
Here’s a little song I’ve just written about this. If you are unlucky, I may record myself singing it later. Please send money to prevent that happening to the usual address.
Welcome to this Premier Inn
We hope you enjoy your stay,
But because of current restrictions,
We have some things to say...
We can’t make your bed and we can’t clean your loo
We can’t clean the sink or bath.
We won’t change your towels if you leave them on the floor,
We just can’t risk our staff.
Thanks for being here, Premier Inn
We're going to enjoy our stay.
And even with these restrictions
We’d really like to say,
Thanks for the bed and thanks for the room.
Thanks for doing your best.
Thanks for being here for our little holiday.
We really need the rest. We really need the rest.
