First Dry Run

With the extruder fully mounted, today was time to try a full dry run of the printer, running it up to operating temperature and following a full print cycle, but without any chocolate.

I have the printer connected to Repetier Host, and I have tried to configure this in settings so it runs the print at 50°

I must be missing something, as when the START PRINT button is clicked, the extruder temperature setting jumps up to 200°. This also highlighs some discrepency between the EMERGENCY STOP in Repetier Host and the controller board firmware - the printer does not alwasy emergency stop and cut off the heaters properly. thats something to add to the fix list. I was able to get around the problme by editing out a G-Code command in the G-Code
; Activate all used extruder
M104 T0 S210

That M104 command will set a new target hot end temperature and continue without waiting. The firmware will continue to try to reach and hold the temperature in the background. It's getting that 210 value from somewhere, but I don't know from where yet.

I am also having some trouble with the Z-Axis stop sensor. The microswitch gets pushed away by the set screw, and the z axis goes below the stop. I have redesigned the mount for the microswitch so it is 5mm deeper, and should now be diretly under the set screw.

Apart from having the bed misaligned, the recording of the video went well and all the parts worked properly. I could see the cogs moving inside the extruder.

Once I've got the end stop mount replaced, I could try to extrude some chocolate and maybe work out the correct speed settings for the extruder.
